Online buying starts with photos, but photos are only part of the decision. A buyer should also look for handling notes, condition details, and signs that the loft routine is steady enough to support healthy birds.

What photos can tell you

Clear photos help you compare color, markings, body condition, feather shape, and the general presentation of the bird. They also help you ask better follow-up questions. Review the Gallery and any current birds for sale listings before contacting the loft.

Photos should not be treated as the whole story. A bird can photograph well and still need a quiet handoff, a clean settling space, or a slower training plan.

Why handling notes matter

Handling notes tell you whether the bird is calm, alert, and used to normal loft activity. Ask how the bird responds when moved, whether it is eating normally, and whether there are any details you should know before pickup or shipping.

For more context, read why photos and handling notes matter and why calm handling matters.

Loft routine is part of the value

A bird coming from a consistent routine usually has a clearer path into a new loft. Ask about feed timing, weather protection, and how the bird has been handled. If you are planning your own setup, the Blog/Tips section and Shop page can help you gather the next details before reaching out.

I’ve been around pigeons my entire life.  My dad learned from the old timers in Germany as a kid and won his first homing pigeon race at the age of 15.  He immigrated to USA at age 20.  He introduced me to all the workings of his loft when I was just 6 yrs old.  I’ve been hooked ever since.  Pigeons are a part of my identity.
